German and Spanish businessmen met at the Berlin International Fair strengths Mediterranean Food City (09/02/2010)

Spanish and German businessmen held meetings with the mayors of Industry, José Antonio Valverde Queen, and the Agriculture and Water, John Pagan, who made known to them at the Berlin International Fair "Fruit Logistica" strengths Mediterranean Food City (CIAM), a project led by the city of Totana and, if carried out will allow the city to position itself as a benchmark in the business of food.

Within the work schedule established for the fair, and coordinated with the Institute of Development in the Region of Murcia, the Selectmen held several meetings with businessmen in the food sector so that they know more about the future project Food City.

This project, which is reflected in the Strategic Plan "Growing Totana 2013" and will contribute directly and decisively to the future of the municipality and the local backbone of the area and the Region of Murcia.

The deputies, who also established contacts with leaders of business associations in the sector and potential investors during the conference explained the basic pillars of the Food City project is the backbone of the installation of a Special Industrial Park, construction of Logistics Center and the development of the Campus Food, which will give great value to the research infrastructure to enter university in the project.

Specialized Industrial Park would be used to start up businesses in the productive sectors of food in general, auxiliary enterprises and service agencies and public institutions and related private sector.

Also, another part of the CIAM, the Logistics Centre would be erected in a service-based infrastructure and common platform for companies setting up in this industrial park.

However, as explained by the mayor of Industry, the complement of the Intermodal Freight Station would enable better haulage firms in the Industrial Park.

In addition, the Campus Food, which will be launched by the San Antonio Catholic University, is an initiative towards teaching and research, where university ofertaría vocational training and other training offered by masters, and doctoral theses.

Also envisage a section for applied science and advanced technology center where highlight a food and an institute of food science and a business incubator that would collect the concerns of students, teachers, researchers and entrepreneurs, among others.
