Civilian and military authorities preside over the ceremony of homage to the flag of Spain for the festival of Pilar, patroness of the Guardia Civil (13/10/2009)

Civilian and military authorities in Totana presided yesterday in the Plaza of the Constitution the institutional act of homage to the flag of Spain, for the third consecutive year, due to the holiday the Day of Pilar, patroness of the Civil Guard, which also served to remember those killed in the Local Police, Civil Guard and the Army.

The event was held at the end of the traditional Mass for the patron saint of the Civil Guard held in the Convent of the Three Hail Marys, and was attended by a large audience thanks to good weather conditions the day.

This year's homage to the festival organized by the October 12 consisted of the traditional raising of the flag of Spain in the Plaza of the Constitution and the taxes were paid homage to the dead of the various bodies with the surrender of a wreath bay on the shrine of Santa Eulalia existing in the adjoining area to the square by the highest civil and military authorities of Totana.

Trained staff to honor the flag was composed of members of the Guardia Civil post of Totana and members of the Local Police in Totana, and representatives of the three armed forces and the municipal corporation, who completed the training by the Musical Band Group of Totana.

Before starting the act was read to Section Four of the Spanish Constitution which deals with the flag of Spain and the ensigns of the autonomous communities.

Then, two members of the local police discovered carried the flag to the base of high mast located in this plaza, where a member of the Guardia Civil post of Totana proceeded to hoist while the band played the national anthem and the whole uniform training remained in position announcement.

Then the act was done in honor of deceased colleagues of Totana Local Police, the Civil Guard and the Army, so that two members of the local police wore the laurel wreath placed at the foot authorities of the temple Santa Eulalia.

The mayor, José Martínez Andreo, Chief Commander of Air Surveillance Squadron No. 13 Air Force, Juan José Arbolí Nevot, along with the lieutenant commander of the Civil Guard station in Totana, Juan Galera, placed the laurel wreath honor of the deceased, while the band played the hymn "Death is not the end."
