The "Festival of dance and folklore" brings together a large audience of different nationalities and localities in the region of Murcia (09/10/2009)

The "Festival of Dance and Folklore," framed in the Intercultural Week III, held last weekend in Park City "Marcos Ortiz," which attracted a large audience of different nationalities and localities in the Region of Murcia.

This action, which is part of the Municipal Plan for Integration and Coexistence of Immigrants, organized by the Department of Social Welfare of the City of Totana, aims to provide opportunities for dissemination to the different cultures living in the municipality in order to bring all citizens the customs, folklore and customs of all cultures present in the locality, and provides a meeting point between all citizens of Totana.

The event started at four in the afternoon, with the opening by the council of Human Resources, Internal Affairs, Public Safety, Traffic and Mobility, Roque Molina Legaz, and ended at around two o'clock, with a wide participation of people of different nationalities and localities in the Region of Murcia.

During the Festival, guests enjoyed the performances of folk groups from Ukraine, Ecuador, Colombia, Senegal and Bolivia, and various activities such as an exhibition of traditional costumes, information panels about customs, habits, languages of different cultures ... established in the Region of Murcia.

Furthermore, it could taste typical cuisine Ecuador, Bolivia and Morocco.

Children and young people also had their space during the event, workshops were scheduled as animation, music and dance, with a wide acceptance of this group.

For organizing this event and for the remaining activities scheduled within the III Intercultural Week, organized by the Municipal Department for Immigration in the Department of Social Welfare of the City of Totana, has enjoyed the cooperation of associations of immigrants such as the Federation of Associations of immigrant multiculturalism in the Region of Murcia (FEDASIM), the Native Women's Association of Canar, the Association King of the Andes, the Mexican Cultural Center and the Association of Totana ATB as well as the local group for social promotion "The Candle."
