The activities organized to mark the "World Environment Day" will run until Friday, June 5 (02/06/2009)

The Councillor for Environment, Trini Cayuela, presented the program of activities organized to commemorate the "World Environment Day, under the slogan" Your planet needs you together against climate change, which includes about a ten awareness activities in this field and will run until Friday 5 June.

These activities aim to raise public awareness, according to the mayor said, "starting from the smallest to work and have a willingness to care for and respect the environment" and stressed the importance of combating noise pollution and environmental light.

The program of activities started yesterday with the planting of species in schools aimed at pupils in Primary 6 of the schools that have requested the activity, in which two environmental educators in schools "San José", "Luis Pérez Rueda "and" Deitania. The activity was developed with a short introduction before the classroom where they said the most significant plant species in order to raise awareness and assess their importance in the environment.

Subsequently conducted a research to observe, draw, annotate and determine the name of each species and immediately was planting species.

It also held a talk about "United against climate change" in schools "La Milagrosa", "Reina Sofia" and the IES "Juan de la Cierva" aimed at students aged 3 and 4 and the ESO .

It projected a Power Point with information about actions to develop the fight against climate change with emphasis on the use of alternative energy.

On Wednesday, June 3 will proceed to the distribution of recycling waste materials in the weekly market to generate environmental awareness activities to promote participation in an attractive, fun and easy to understand.

Sharing information and recycling materials will be made by two environmental volunteers, who will try to capture public attention on the importance of the separation of waste in households for recycling, as explained by the mayor.

The activities scheduled for Friday June 5, World Environment Day, will be held in the Municipal Park "Marcos Ortiz" and begin at half past nine in the implementation of environmental education activities in the participating school Secondary 2 Primary schools "Santa Eulalia", "La Cruz", "Santiago" and "Miracle."

These activities will work various topics such as water, energy, biodiversity and waste and there will be small colorful murals to be exhibited throughout the park and conducted workshops on these topics.

At 11:00 hours, proceed to read the environmental manifesto and presentation of the Prayer of the Tree, where there will be a small tribute to the tree.

Subsequently, and at 18:00 hours will be held six workshops for the reuse of waste and simultaneously will conduct a green treasure hunt in the park with tests that make reference to the environment.

Likewise, from the 20:00 hours there will be a storyteller based interactive representation with the audience with messages of respect for the environment through characters from nature.

The municipal official of the Environment urged all citizens to participate in these awareness activities that enhance the respect for the environment and appealed to civic responsibility, as "the world will be the legacy we leave our children."
