The City Council has signed an agreement with the associations of artisans for the collection of sewage contamination of the pottery (02/03/2009)

The City Council of Totana, through the departments of Crafts and the Environment, has signed a collaboration agreement with the Association of Artisans of Totana (Asarta) and Totana Pottery and Crafts Association, the collection of sewage contamination of the pottery of municipality.

Through this agreement, the Consistory technical and legal advice to respective associations to manage the waste generated by the eleven potteries of the municipality.

In this way, will ensure that highly polluting waste are managed in preventing them from mixing and storing them properly on the premises until the manager, authorized by the Autonomous Community, pick them up.

Moreover, under the signature of this document, will prevent waste production at source by encouraging the reduction and reuse them in their production process when feasible and will be launched information campaigns to achieve environmental awareness among potters partners to conduct the proper management of their waste at source.

The Mayor of Totana, José Martínez Andreo, accompanied by the councilman of the Environment, Trini Cayuela, and Crafts, Isabel Sanchez, has signed the cooperation agreement this morning with the president of the association and Crafts Pottery Totana, José María Cánovas , and the president of the Association of Artisans of Totana, Rosa Maria Saiz.

The mayor of the Environment, Trini Cayuela, has indicated that the craft in Totana is one of the most dynamic productive sectors and important city and generates a lot of waste.

Therefore, and responding to the historical demand of the potters, the Department of Environment conducted a study of waste generated in the various facilities potters, there were alternatives in waste collection, because in no Totana Ecopark place, and estimated the amounts of waste and the costs of administering them.

For its part, the mayor of Crafts, Isabel Sánchez, explained that the City Council of Totana is going to fight for the Government's Office of Defense to develop a law of Crafts relying on Article 130.1 of the Spanish Constitution and The first step was the proposal of this motion to the House of the Corporation, which was approved unanimously by all political groups.

The Mayor of Totana, José Martínez Andreo, stressed that the signing of this agreement is in response to a request from the artisans of Totana they needed a manager for the disposal of the waste produced at their facilities.

This agreement, as has been suggested the municipal councilor, is the fruit of labor between local government and associations that this sector will save a little more on its running costs.

Martínez Andreo explained that the City Council will continue to work in promoting the handicrafts, as they are feeling the crisis most productive sectors of the municipality because they have to compete with exports from other countries.
