The Mayor of Totana, José Martínez Andreo, and Council Member of Health, Trini Cayuela, have recently held a meeting with the Red Cross Regional Secretary, José Luis Morera, and chairman of the Spanish Red Cross in Totana, Juan Ruiz Periago to discuss this partnership programs being developed in the town and fix the lines of work for the forthcoming year.
This meeting is part of the round of contacts is carried out by the mayor with associations, groups and organizations in this county, to see first hand the real needs and problems of different sectors of the population totanera.
During the meeting they discussed the programs being implemented by Red Cross in Totana in collaboration with the town of Totana, among which the provision of ambulance service for health care as well as the remote assistance, as well as other programs and projects conducted with youth and family.
Also, the lines of work planned for 2009 and the mayor made a commitment to provide the sum of 32,000 euros, despite the municipal economic and financial situation.
This amount will be delivered through the signing of various agreements for the programs carried out by Red Cross, and announced that next week will proceed to the signing of the agreement for the provision of ambulance service for healthcare.
Thus, with the various actions carried out in different areas of volunteering, foreigners, senior citizens, transportation, child and family and wife, as stated Martínez Andreo, is intended to contribute to improving the welfare of the population and certain disadvantaged social groups and social volunteering.
The mayor, who acknowledged the great work of local Red Cross and encouraged them to continue working on the same line, expressed interest in establishing a mutual cooperation with Red Cross in fulfilling the social purpose is confident of promotion and improvements in social welfare development of the population.
