The Mayor of Totana, José Martínez Andreo, and generla director of Local Government and Institutional Relations, Javier Iniesta, met today to set a timetable for funding of several major projects planned to accomplish in this term collaboration the Ministry of the Presidency.
Among these include the construction of the Beltway west of town, the management of the crossing of the N-340 for conversion into urban avenue at its intersection with Avenida Rambla de La Santa, the rehabilitation of the house of the General Aznar for municipal services, equipment for Phase 1 of the School of Early Childhood Education "El Parral" and the implementation of the Accessibility Plan neighborhood of Las Parras.
This meeting is intended to translate those needs to the regional government and the town of Totana projects to which is to provide public investment in the so-called "Strengthening Basic Infrastructure Plan in the municipalities of the Region of Murcia."
This plan intends to fund the Autonomous Community basic infrastructure during the annual municipal 2008, 2009 and 2010, amounting to 70% of the total project cost and the remaining 30% Consistory.
The most ambitious project set out in this plan is the construction of the Beltway West, whose contract budget is around 1.2 million euros, and would build a road infrastructure on the northern outskirts of the town and promote access and communication to the living space of garden situated on both sides of the road to La Santa and towards Aledo.
Another of the actions of the management of the old N-340 at the height of the avenue boulevard de La Santa (nightclub area "Kabuki") and is to widen the bridge over the ravine and make subsequent management of the road cn public building two lanes in each direction, as has been done on the road and ordered to the diversion tunnel, "a roundabout traffic control, two hits on the sides of the avenue to create a new access to the center of urban area and creating gardens.
Martínez Andreo also sought from the Presidential to rehabilitate the 989-square-foot building of the house of the General Aznar, once it has been already acquired by the City, to be earmarked for municipal offices to concentrate the services on a perimeter small hall near the main building.
In addition, it addressed the financing of equipment for Phase 1 of the Municipal School of Early Childhood Education that is built today in the neighborhood of "El Parral" and actions that arise in the Accessibility Plan the area of Las Parras.
The mayor said that this neighborhood is one of the oldest building in Totana and slope and the narrowness of its streets and sidewalks are an enormous challenge of accessibility for vehicles and pedestrians, and especially the disabled.
The planned measures include replacing sidewalks and pavement only cobblestone driveway, the burial of the lines of street lighting and distribution of low voltage and the replacement of all water networks and wastewater, whose total budget amounts to 882,000 euros and would be funded in three phases.
The Mayor explained that these measures will undertake some of the public investments of the City of Totana and the Autonomous Region for this term and palliative, as far as possible the effects of economic slowdown that directly or indirectly suffer and the productive of the locality.
