The closing ceremony of the course 2014/15 in the Day Centre for People with Mental Illness Held Totana (30/07/2014)

The Mayor of Totana, María Isabel Sánchez, and the Councillor for Social Care, Josefa María Sánchez, today closed during 2014/15 the Day Centre for People with Mental Illness, which celebrated its first year of operation with this legal nature.

The Day Centre for People with Mental Illness Totana City Council began to provide services in September 2013 under the cooperation agreement between the Institute of Social Action (IMAS) of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia and the City of Totana.

Users who already received attention in the Psychosocial Support Service could seek their place in the Day Centre, having previously recognized its dependence.

Authorities have made some gifts delivery to users and thanked professionals work, while encouraged them to continue with this excellent line of work for the maintenance of the quality of care service.

Also during the ceremony, students received their diplomas at the end of the course and have a play performed.

During this first year, have attended 17 users concerted square with the region and 3 users with town square, ie, a total of 20 people who have received care at both the group and individual level and family, according to sources of Department of Social Services.

The focus on this group has improved both in quality and quantity, as the center's schedule has been extended until 16:30 every day.

First, since September have started to receive a series of basic services among which include: dining room and assistance in basic activities of daily living (power monitoring, hygiene, lifestyle).

Moreover, they have improved and increased Therapeutic Services and Intervention Programs, so that the Day Centre for People with Mental Illness has made tailored to the needs of the users program.

This has included a number of rehabilitation activities, cultural, educational and recreational interest in the functional, emotional, cognitive, and motor areas of community involvement, among others.

To these must be added group interventions attentions to individual and family level, which are held regularly, offering guidance and support in the daily conflicts.

A level of professionals has received new additions: two educators, social worker, psychologist, nurse and administrative, with different days each.

Similarly, it has enjoyed the cooperation, as in other years, the Department of Sports, with two hours of fitness training;

a weekly hour of swimming with the company "MOVE";

an hour's leisure and sporting activities with the Center monitor "José Moya" and when a monitor Visual Arts Center "José Moya".

Similarly, it is important to note that it has continued to maintain a liaison with the Mental Health Center of Lorca, which allows the derivation and case studies to enhance the users attention.
