The Totana ayuntamento edits a local resource guide on gender violence on the occasion of the commemoration of the November 25 (14/11/2011)

Totana City Council, on the occasion of the commemoration of November 25, has designed a campaign that includes a series of activities aimed at improving access to resources for women victims of gender violence and promote public awareness to the problem of violence.

As part of the campaign has made a local resource guide on gender violence for women include addresses and phone numbers of services provided locally.

The leaflet includes a test to identify warning signs of domestic violence in its various degrees.

As explained by the Women's council, Eulalia Sandoval, "the behaviors that lead to gender-based violence are deeply rooted in our culture, so that sometimes it may be that we do not recognize violent behavior in our loving relationships."

In this regard, the mayor said that "gender-based violence is not only the coup must know and have alarms behaviors to stop it in time."

The local resource guide provides phone numbers and addresses of those involved in health such as the Health Center, Center for Specialty Care for Women Victims of Domestic Violence (CAVI), Police and Civil Guard, and councils involved.

The legal, psychological and social development provided by the CAVI is free, and to require their services need not have filed a complaint or have a protective order to receive these services.

Between January and October 2011, the Specialty Care Center for Women Victims of Domestic Violence, has provided assistance to 65 women of whom 37% attend the service directly and 41% of them are derived from the Forces Totana Security.

The total number of women attending the service since its launch in 2008 is 245 women, with which it has conducted a total of 3,500 interventions.

The activities of the campaign against gender violence have initiated contacts with Totana associations that resulted in the Citizens' Pact signed between the Municipality and local associations "For a Free Totana gender violence" in which manifests a rejection set of civil society to gender violence and its practitioners.

The Citizens' Pact presentation, poetry reading and concentration in honor of the victims will be held on November 25, Friday, at 12.00 at the door of City Hall.
