The council's Equal Opportunities and Women, Josefa María Sánchez Méndez, has made awards of "III Art Contest for Equality Totana 2010."
The first prize of art in the form of painting has been collected by its author, Andrés David Durán Tennoury with the work "Water, Land and Life."
According to the painter, his title is that the conjunction of life can not be understood without the water, represented by a tap (allegory of man) and the seed, which in his bowl commended the female parent.
On the other hand, the mayor also has delivered the first prize in the category of sculpture Carlos Montero Gil, for his "Reflection."
Under a chess board, according to the author, shows the desperation of women and the influence of man who only sees himself in the mirror and not able to appreciate the suffering of women.
Two separate awards have a prize of 500 euros each.
This competition, according to Sanchez Mendez, were carried out in order to prevent discrimination and to sensitize the public to a change in the pattern of social relations between men and women who conceive a coexistence without violence.
