Consumption propose to the House urge the government not apply the third consecutive rise in 2010 in electricity rates (21/10/2010)

The Department of Consumer Affairs will present a motion to the full City Council to request the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade does not apply, for the third time so far in 2010, a new rate increase in electricity bills for consumers and SMEs.

Also, through this initiative will require the Government opts for a policy of support for consumers and users, which is one of the segments hardest hit by the economic crisis.

In this regard, the council of Consumer Affairs, María Isabel Sánchez, reported that the National Government has planned for the third time in a year an increase in rates for electricity consumption, a decision which in the opinion of mayor returns to hurt the domestic economy, and set a stone on working families in times of crisis.

The tax burden, as noted, is becoming one of the pillars of the socialist government's economic policy, such as the VAT hike in July, permanent increases in goods and services such as water, butane and public transport, fuel, among others.

After the "electric rate hikes" launched last summer after the liberalization of the sector, now back again Murcia 850,000 families have another increase that is already unsustainable, and that with the further rise expected in October, the electricity is expensive and about 10 percent so far this year.

He recalled that from July 2007 to January 2010 in two and a half years, electricity prices rose 26 percent, while the cumulative CPI was 4.2 percent, hurting the domestic economy and business.

In this line indicated that users and small businesses are once again the great slaughter and hurt by rate increases and the few facilities of electric companies, as the mayor said, and do not read on a monthly basis with estimates approximate and charges made little tight to reality a few months.
