The Councilor for Culture, Eulalia Moreno, has raised a motion to the municipal Plenary in which it proposes to promote the celebration of a program of social and cultural activities on the occasion of the Centennial of the Concession of the Title of City to Totana that is commemorated in the year 2018 .
In fact, the program of activities is scheduled to be presented next Monday, January 22, given that on Friday 26 of the same month begin the acts with an inaugural piano concert by the totanero Juan Miguel Murani in the parish of Santiago El Mayor.
The Plenary of Totana already approved, unanimously, in October of 2016, an initiative of the previous mayor, Juan José Cánovas, declaring institutionally the year 2018 as the "Centennial of the Concession of the Title of Totana City", as well as initiate procedure of invitation to the Real House to realize visit of representatives of the Real Family, in particular, SM Don Felipe VI to the municipality of Totana during this exercise.
The City of Totana made the request in response to the proposal of the so-called "People's Plaza Plaza Platform", which also requested the opening of a file inviting the monarch Felipe VI to the city of Totana on the occasion of said event during This exercise.
This popular initiative, endorsed by numerous signatures of neighbors of Totana, aims to commemorate this year the one hundredth anniversary of the concession of the title of "city" to Totana granted by King Alfonso XIII in 1918, endorsed, among other issues, for its economic growth and its constant adherence to the monarchy.
The City wants to dedicate the year 2018 to the celebration of the Centennial of the Concession of the Title of City to Totana, for what is going to promote the creation of a commemorative logo that will be used in all the stationery and official corporate documentation of the City Council during the present year, and the design of a program of commemorative activities to be celebrated in the coming months.
Among these, are shuffled, according to the proposal of the mayor of Culture, exhibitions;
concerts of music bands, orchestras, soloists and groups;
publications around the historical reality of Totana;
conferences and round tables on this subject that concerns us;
exhibitions and continue with the steps taken to try the monarch's visit to this municipality throughout this year.
On July 30, 1918 King Alfonso XIII, being in Santander, signed a royal decree granting Totana the title of City and did so recognizing "the growing development of agriculture, industry and commerce and its constant adherence to the monarchy."
Behind this management and promoting this concession was General Aznar who, in love with this land, who intervened to obtain that grace.
The motion states that "encouraged by this event we plan to dedicate this year of 2018 to work in order to set our sights on the main moments of Totana's past, taking advantage of the opportunity this anniversary offers us."
The proposal states that "with this motive and in order to bring neighbors to major and significant milestones of the historical course of the town, a series of activities that involve a large core of the population, helping to discover the values that constitute us as a city, to estimate and enhance them ".
Similarly, advocates "open debates and reflections that contribute to improving the present and define a future as consistent as possible with the traditions that constitute us but also respectful of the natural and urban environment, capable of defining a path that favors channels of understanding, understanding, dialogue, welcome ... values that define the work of Totana and its people ".
In addition, the motion of the Councilor for Culture states that "in the work that encompasses the celebration of the First Centenary of Totana City, we must keep in mind the potential of our children and youth and, therefore, establish spaces for participation and the commitment, encouraging the awareness of affection for their land, their essences, the manifestations that define their journey and the legacy received.
