Civil Protection Totana reports warnings for heavy rains in the Region of Murcia (28/08/2017)

The arrival of a DANA (Isolated Depression in the High Levels and popularly known as "cold drop") in the west / southwest of the Iberian Peninsula has been announced for days.

We already have it placed in that zone and its front part, that corresponds with the central and eastern strips of Spain, is the most unstable.

AEMET has issued a special notice informing about this situation.

Until yesterday the position and evolution of this DANA has not been more or less clear, reason why the distribution and intensity of the squalls and storms varied continuously.

Even today there are discrepancies as to the rains that are going to occur today.

But we can already outline what will happen in the coming days in the Region of Murcia.

For Monday, the possibility of storms is expected to increase as the day progresses, although they are more likely in the last hours.

They can be locally strong in some areas of the interior and accompanied by hail.

At the moment there are no warnings on the part of AEMET.

Tomorrow, Tuesday and Wednesday will be the most unstable days.

The skies will be quite cloudy or covered both days.

Tuesday is expected a rainy day already since dawn.

Rains may be persistent in some areas, weak to moderate, but some heavy storms and hail may fall promptly.

In the last hours of Tuesday the storms would gain ground again and continue during the morning and Wednesday morning.

Wednesday seems to be the western half of the Region most affected.

Outside of these two more continuous rainstorms, more dispersed showers may also occur on both days.

The yellow warning for rains and storms is already activated for both days.

On Tuesday throughout the Region of Murcia and Wednesday in the Altiplano and Northwest.

15mm / h can be recorded.

But these notices will be updated.

In principle, the absence of a long-distance lift wind will prevent large water pipes from flowing in, but Totana Civil Protection recommends that precautions should not be taken too seriously.
