The Councilor for Youth Inmaculada Blázquez Acosta, together with technicians from the General Directorate of Youth in the Region of Murcia, recently visited the IES "Juan de la Cierva" to learn about the work of youth correspondents.
These have been accompanied by the young youth correspondents, Borja Hernández Murcia and Cindy Cerón, Professor Margarita Martínez Lorca, tutor of the program of correspondents and the director of the IES, Juan Francisco Otálora Tudela.
The young volunteers have explained how they carry out their correspondence work, with the attendance of a Youth Information Point during recess and the management of the information panel in the center where they study, all coordinated with the Informajoven and the General Directorate of Youth.
The program 'Youth Correspondents', launched by the Ministry of Culture and Portavocía through the Directorate General of Youth, began with the aim of decentralizing youth information and bring to the places of study all information that may result Useful through the volunteer students.
In the present course 2016/2017, the program 'Youth Correspondents' has reached a total of 35 municipalities of the Region of Murcia and 62 educational centers and University, and with more than a hundred young volunteers participating in the project.
The program will end in June with a Final Evaluation Meeting where the volunteers will evaluate their work as correspondents and will be given the diplomas that accredit the work of these young people as youth informants.
The councilor thanked the participants for their involvement as well as the IES executives for their commitment to this project and stressed that information is one of the factors that most influences the levels of autonomy and decision-making capacity of any person, but acquires A special relevance when it comes to young people, as they go through a stage of life in which decisions are made that most affect the individual future of each person.
Blázquez explained that getting the young students of Totana to have a good level of information means, on the other hand, to take steps towards equal opportunities among the various sectors of young people in society, and meeting these two goals is the reason Being of the Youth Information Centers like the Informajoven of this locality.
