Target more than 1.5 million emergency works on 11 regional roads damaged by rain and snow storms (21/02/2017)

The works will consist of rebuilding of constants, embankments and masonry walls, repair of tunnels and rehabilitation of the road affected by rock, stone and earth landslides

The rain and snow storms have caused damages in 58 roads, valued at about 4.2 million euros

The Minister of Development and Infrastructures, Pedro Rivera, today reported that the regional government will carry out emergency works on 11 highways in the regional network as a result of damages caused by rain and snow storms in December and January .

The budget for these actions exceeds 1.5 million euros.

Councilor Pedro Rivera said today that the regional government has acted in a "fast, diligent" manner in both temporary, in which "extraordinary repair and conservation work was carried out quickly to be able to put in service the affected roads and recover the normality soon as possible".

The staff of the Community Conservation Service "have carried out various inspections of the regional roads to determine and quantify the damage, take the most appropriate action and plan the execution of the works", which will begin in the coming weeks.

The head of the Department of Development stressed that emergency works "are a priority for the regional government because they require a more immediate action for having suffered greater damage" and, therefore, "we will implement them as quickly as possible."

Rivera said that these emergency actions "were not within the conservation forecasts and, therefore, had no allocated budgets", hence the regional government has had to allocate the necessary budget to meet these unforeseen needs.

There will be an urgent intervention in a total of 11 roads affecting 13 municipalities: Abarán, Aguilas, Alhama de Murcia, Cartagena, Cieza, Lorca, Mula, Murcia, Pliego, Puerto Lumbreras, Torre Pacheco, Totana and Ulea.

The roads are the RM-515 (Mula-Alhama de Murcia), RM-D13 (Emita of El Garrobillo in Aguilas to highway RM-11), RM-C7 (Totana-Ermita de las Huertas), RM-523 A-30), RM-F56 (RM-301 to Riquelme Station in Murcia), RM-512 (Cieza-Abarán), RM-F20 (Balsicas-Avileses), RM-F51 (Torre Pacheco- -D11 (Lorca-Puerto Lumbreras Station), RM-D3 (N-340 to RM-D1) and RM-C26 (Plate to RM-C2).

The works will consist of rebuilding of the firm, slopes and walls of masonry in order to give greater support to the firm, the repair of scaffolds and the rehabilitation of the road affected by rock, stone and earth landslides on the road.

The budget of the works ranges from 55,000 to 340,000 euros.

4.2 million in damages

The councilor explained that a total of 58 regional roads have recorded different damages due to the climatic episodes of December and January, which have been valued at a global amount of about 4.2 million euros.

The main repairs will be carried out in the form of repairs, ditches, embankments, embankments, embankments and drainage, reconstruction of the foundation of the wall, renovation of protection fences and removal of slopes and ditches.

To this valuation, a further € 218,584 should be added to the immediate actions carried out during the storms, which consisted of the removal of trawls and road cleaning, preventative treatment of brine and removal of snow from the roads and the construction of works Signaling and road cuts.
