The 'Carmesí' project (Catalog of Archives of the Region of Murcia in the Information Society) has digitized since 2005, 1,051,307 images of historical documents from the period between the fourteenth and twentieth centuries, ie seven centuries Of the history of the Region.

This was demonstrated today by the general director of Simplification of Business and Digital Economy, Francisco Abril, during the delivery of the digital copies to the institutions participating in the project, carried out in the last completed phase of the same, in an act in Which was also attended by the General Director of Cultural Property, Maria Comas, which took place in the General Archive of the Region, and the Councilor for Historic Heritage of Totana, Inmaculada Blázquez.

Specifically, during this phase the digitization of all the eighteenth-century capitular acts has been completed and, in the commemoration of the 500th anniversary of the beginning of the reign of Charles I (1516-1556), all the municipal documents belonging to that period And his mother, Dona Juana.

In total, the municipal archives of 15 municipalities (Alhama, Archena, Bullas, Calasparra, Caravaca de la Cruz, Cehegín, Cieza, Jumilla, Lorca, Mazarrón, Molina de Segura, Mula, Murcia, Totana and Yecla) , The General Archive and the Regional Library;

And 125,962 pages have been digitized.

The project 'Crimson' aims to digitize and catalog all the historical documents guarded in the archives of the Region of Murcia to achieve its preservation and later dissemination through the use of digital technology.

Francisco Abril stressed that "the scale of the project represents an important collaborative effort among institutions that contribute their heritage, knowledge, technology and financing."

In this way, they have participated in the project 29, among which are a large number of municipalities in the Region that have contributed their archival funds.

The Integra Foundation assumes the tasks of coordination between institutions, as well as the digitization of the archives and their webcast http://carmesi.regmurcia.com.

The General Archives of the Region of Murcia is in charge of guaranteeing compliance with the regulations in archival matters and of coordinating the relations with the participating archives.

And the Seneca Foundation, for its part, is responsible for the tasks of cataloging and description of the digitized documents.

The 'Crimesí' project is a 'Digital Patrimony' initiative, managed and coordinated by the Integra Foundation, which has European funding from Feder and the Directorate General for Business Activity Simplification and Digital Economy of the Ministry of Economic Development , Tourism and Employment.
