The Municipal Socialist Group wants to put a surcharge of 50% in the IBI to empty houses that are in the hands of financial institutions. (17/06/2016)

The socialist municipal group raises a motion to the full month of June, to urge the government of the nation to the regulatory development of the Local Finance Law concerning the possibility of levying the surcharge of 50% of IBI to vacant homes in hands financial institutions, and their subsequent application in Totana.

The reality of the housing market on the one hand, a strong social demand and on the other, an important stock of empty houses that are not offered and seriously impairs the right of citizens to access to housing.

In addition, the economic situation of recent years has hindered access to housing, to the extent that the demand for buying homes has fallen to historic lows.

The Municipal Socialist Group calls for legal changes necessary to "pressure" financial institutions to make available to the people worst is having these homes, either through the formula of social rent or either through purchase prices adjusted to the social reality of time in which we live.

Thus, the Municipal Socialist Group wants to contribute to a dual purpose: on the one hand, the spirit enshrined in the constitution as regards the right of every Spanish citizen to decent housing, and its complement of being the public authorities with its political action to promote this fundamental right.

Finally, the Municipal Socialist Group says that this first year of government by the leftist coalition, has been established why the PSOE has 137 years of history, a history serving the people, solidarity, social justice , and creating the welfare state right now shatters as a vehicle for social cohesion.
