13 volunteers will participate in the program of educational support (14/02/2016)

The project "Strengthening education" promoted by the Department of Youth and Education, in collaboration with the University of Murcia (UMU), aimed at boys and girls at a disadvantage sociocultural account this school year with the invaluable assistance of 13 volunteers of Totana .

The councilman of Youth, Inmaculada Blazquez, and Education, Eulalia Moreno, presented to university students who signed their commitment to partnership with the City of Totana, in coordination with the Service of Diversity and Volunteer of the UMU.

Participants in the project are Mary Immaculate Martinez (Nursing), Rosalia Parra (Primary Education), Angel Navarro (Primary Education), Elena Canovas (Primary Education), Eulalia Bathrooms (Early Childhood Education), Adrien Emsellen (Environmental Sciences) Gloria Perez (Psychology), Jennifer Lopez (ADE Bilingual), Sergio Cuesta (Primary Education), Viviana Muzo (Primary Education), Noelia Garcia (Education), Maria Dolores Carrasco (Early Childhood Education) and Maite Tudela (Primary Education).

As explained by the municipal responsible for this program, your goal is to strengthen educational processes to encourage both personal and social development of children, especially those who are disadvantaged in familiar situations.

The program, which has been developed already in Totana for several years, this is to prevent and reduce the problems of failure, absenteeism and early dropout in students from all schools in the municipality of Totana that have incorporated into such pedagogical initiative.

Here are some sixty students studying between 3rd and 6th of primary education which can be beneficiaries of the project, which started earlier this month of February and end on May 15.

Volunteers offer educational support to students referred from deTotana schools for two weekly sessions of one hour and a half each;

while, in return, the university will receive college credit in their respective careers and a certificate attesting to the hours of voluntary action.

The registration period for students who may be interested in participating in this project, they said, remains open, so you can contact the Department of Youth and Education.

City officials thanked him for his personal commitment and encouraged them to enjoy this rewarding experience both personally and academically, and they can go a long way for your professional resume in the future.
