| Which would entail more human resources and material means | The mayor already held at the end of July, together with other councilors of the region, a meeting with the Ministry of Public Administration for this purpose The Totana City Council has requested the Ministry of the Presidency and the Environment and the Murcia Region Fire Extinction Consortium to qualify as a Zonal Park for the Totana-Alhama Fire Station, increasing the number of personnel to the new qualification as well as the provision of material necessary for its optimal development.
This petition responds to a plenary agreement, agreed unanimously, at the request of the Councilor for Security and Emergencies, Agustín Gonzalo Martínez Hernández.
The current Local Park of Firemen of Totana and Alhama covers a great territorial and population zone in continuous growth; so that neighboring municipalities such as Librilla and Aledo are recipients of this service, which causes that on many occasions the current staff of 3 firefighters in this park is clearly insufficient to attend to emergencies that occur.
A clear example is the municipality of Mula, which has the same staff for much less territory and population it serves.
Precisely, the Local Park qualification causes "the condemnation" of having this number of staff, so the step to be classified as Zone Park would allow, like Caravaca or Yecla for example, to have 5 firefighters a day.
The current endowment, and despite the occasional support and when possible from neighboring parks, is clearly insufficient; and it is worth as an example that a few weeks ago, the fire that occurred in a well-known seed company in the town or other previous ones in the Industrial Estate.
In the case of a moderately inhabited neighboring building, despite the rapid intervention of Firefighters, Local Police and Civil Protection with current means, the lack of specialized personnel would cause irreparable personal damage.
In addition, the presence of the Sierra Espuña Natural Park and its large forest mass, makes it very necessary for the Totana-Alhama Fire Station to have personal and material resources in accordance with the new times and needs to provide service to such a wide area of ??territory, composed of the aforementioned municipalities, their industrial estates and natural spaces.
