The Totana City Council must work to avoid endangering the archaeological material once again and avoiding the looting of the site by "the friends of others". The Popular Party will request in the plenary session of the month of January that the City Council start the procedures for contracting the surveillance of the Bastida Site, since the current contract, carried out urgently and before the social pressure ends on February 28. We all remember how last October we learned the news that the Site would be left unattended in November and December 2020, after much commotion and giving a blind blow from the City Council, the said said service, urgently and without being able to make an assessment of the cheapest offers, until next February. The current surveillance contract of the Bastida ends on February 28, 2021 and considering the importance of said site having the relevant surveillance to guarantee its safety, from the Popular Party we consider it necessary to proceed with the tender Of the contract in such a way as to guarantee the contract law, the best service and the economic offer, passing all this by giving the correct publicity and leaving open the process of presentation of offers for said contract. The archaeological site of La Bastida represents an enormous wealth for European prehistory in general and both its heritage value and the socio-political importance that this settlement had in the Bronze Age have made it a privileged focus in prehistoric research.

This center is already functioning as a depository and laboratory for the analysis and restoration of archaeological materials. It is necessary and urgent for the Mayor to initiate the bidding process for the contract for the surveillance of the Bastida Archaeological Site through a negotiated procedure with publicity, for a minimum period of one year.
