| Among the actions included in Axis 7 of the Sierra Espuña Regional Park Master Plan | The Sierra Espuña Regional Park has announced the beginning of the actions for the recovery of the snow wells, within the actions included in Axis 7 of the Master Plan of the Sierra Espuña Snow wells that are intended to The objective is to recover the landscape and the environment around the wells. Among the actions included in this point of the plan, the conservation and monitoring of the grassland of the esplanade of the wells stand out, as the main snow collection area; recovery of a surface of historical ground in the southern zone, maintenance or expansion of the Achillea millefolium micro-reserve, recovery of the existing orchard downstream the source, conversion of the repopulation pine forest that surrounds the esplanade of the wells in holm oaks and bushes typical of the area and enhancement of the juniper in the lithosols of the southern reliefs. Axis 7 of the Master Plan also contemplates landscape recovery actions in the Cartagena wells with a budget of 66,400 euros.

In the same way that happened with the wells of Murcia, this area was left out of the reforestation plans of the late nineteenth century but within those that were carried out in the 70s.

The landscape suffered an important change, disappearing all the areas that allowed the traditional collection of snow. Currently, the landscape is dominated by aligned pine trees of little naturalness and it indicates that these pine trees prevent the wells from being seen in their locations, which detracts from the splendor of these mountain landscapes.

For this reason, the proposed actions consist of delimitation and recovery of the traditional grounds in the surroundings of the wells, and recovery of the source of the wells in Cartagena. According to the document, one of the actions is the felling and clearing of the environment of the wells with a budget of 2,600 euros: and there is the case of some wells, which after the reforestation of the 70s were surrounded of pines, some of these pines have grown a lot and their roots and branches affect the physical integrity of these constructions, apart from preventing their visit and contemplation: it is proposed to act on the vegetation in the wells 24 (Don Eleuterio), 27 (Alhama) and 28 (Mula).
