["I have a question for you, Mr. L pez Miras" (21/12/2020)

| Secondary students from the Reina Sof a Concerted School of Totana 'question' the president, Fernando L pez Miras, about the functions of the autonomous government | The format of the educational activity has simulated in the classroom the program 'I have a question for you' that was broadcast with a successful audience TVE and where citizens interviewed political leaders A group of fifty third and fourth year ESO students from the Reina Sof a de Totana Concerted School enjoyed a unique opportunity this Monday: to be able to freely question the president of the Region of Murcia, Fernando L pez You look at the functions of the autonomous government bodies, the work of the Regional Assembly, the statute of autonomy or the territorial organization, among other topics.

All this within a pioneering educational project for which there are no precedents in the Autonomous Community because it simulates in the classroom the program 'I have a question for you', which was broadcast with great success to the audience on Spanish Television (TVE) because it gave the opportunity to a group of citizens to interview political leaders. The Educational Innovation Project: 'I have a question for you' designed by the Department of Geography and History, its main objective is that third and fourth year ESO students become the protagonist of their own learning process to acquire competencies through innovative educational methodologies.

New technologies have played a fundamental role in ensuring that the interaction of students with the regional president, Fernando L pez Miras, respects the restrictions of the current coronavirus pandemic.

So that through Google Meet a total of four classrooms have made a simultaneous video call to the head of the Murcian Executive. The activity started with a brief intervention by L pez Miras on the Autonomous Administration and later the students, as happened in the program 'I have a question for you', have taken the turn of word to introduce himself and then question the president after making a brief introduction of his question.

"The students have guided their learning process because to elaborate the questions they had previously worked on the contents of the State Organization in the Geography and History class", as explained by the Head of Studies and coordinator of the project, Alfonso Espejo.

"The questions were organized by thematic blocks," said Espejo.

The video call has lasted for an hour and López Miras 'responses to the teenagers' questions have allowed them to delve into the public institutions in the Region of Murcia or the powers of the regional government.

"The intervention of the president has offered the students the unique opportunity to ask him personally to clarify their doubts about the autonomous administration", as highlighted by the Head of Studies and coordinator of the project. The Reina Sof a de Totana Concerted School will continue in the near future with the Educational Innovation Project: 'I have a question for you'.

To do this, I will invite other politicians to be interviewed by the students.

Espejo underlines that this initiative "encourages and encourages the participation of young people in politics and also contributes to combat the apparent disaffection of young people towards political leaders." In this project, as in a good part of the educational processes of this center in Totana, new technologies always play a crucial role.

A good example of this is the 'Ipad in the classroom' program that so far has allowed other pioneering educational experiences to be developed, such as a virtual visit to the Castle of Lorca.

This excursion organized by the Department of Geography and History took place during the state of alarm, in which home confinement conditioned the teaching activity, preventing physical assistance to the classroom and the development of activities abroad, such as For example, excursions to monuments.
