The Department of Women and Equality has organized the programming of activities to commemorate November 25 (20/11/2020)

On November 10, the Municipal Council for Equality met in a telematic session to plan and coordinate the activities proposed by all members to commemorate 25-N, a date declared by the UN: "International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women ”and thereby make visible the need to continue fighting against gender violence. This year, due to Covid-19 circumstances, the activities are mainly scheduled for dissemination through social networks and audiovisual platforms, aimed at all citizens and, especially, the younger population.

We must "educate" in equality and in the promotion of healthy affective relationships without violence. As in previous years, the façade of the Town Hall will be illuminated and the commemorative banner of the 25th will be placed. The Department of Women and Equality is working on the edition of a Video aimed at the prevention of all kinds of sexual violence against women, because not only is rape sexual violence, but one of the most serious and violent forms of aggression against a woman .

With the title: "Ni Se Te Ocurra" we continue fighting to make society aware of the need to make visible all the situations that threaten the sexual freedom of women.

For the recording of this video we counted on the participation of the citizens of Totana, and with various associations of the municipality such as El Colectivo El Candil, CEPAIM, and the Red Cross. The Totana Day Center has actively participated and worked with its users along the same lines, for which they have produced a mural and a video with messages against sexual violence against women and the promotion of equality, under the Same motto: "Ni Se Ocurra".The Department of Women and Equality has also proposed a Video Contest "Tiktokers Equality and Healthy Relationships" aimed at secondary school students, Bachelor and Training Cycles of Totana, using the audiovisual platform TIK TOK.

The contest is aimed at young people expressing and transmitting ideas of healthy affective relationships between girls and boys, based on respect and freedom and the rejection of macho attitudes.Within the scope of training professionals and those interested in the matter, CAVAX (Center for Comprehensive Attention to Victims of Sexual Violence of the Region of Murcia) has organized, in collaboration with the Totana City Council, the on-line Training Talk “ How to act in a situation of sexual violence? ”It will be held on November 26, 2020 from 5.30 pm to 7.00 pm through the Google Meet videoconferencing platform with prior registration. The El Candil Collective and the Totana Red Cross will continue to work across the board against Gender Violence in their different training courses. The objective of the Municipal Council for Equality, chaired by the Councilor for Women and Equality, Javier Baños, is to continue working together in the fight against all kinds of violence against women and in the promotion of equal opportunities and the breaking of sexist ties that limit people's freedom.

Both institutions and social groups work together in the commemoration of 25N.

There are already 40 women murdered at the hands of their partner or ex-partner in 2020, so we will continue to fight for this figure to be the last in the coming years.
