| The Totanero Consistory urges the regional government to design a Regional Plan for the Return of Young Murcian Talent with concrete measures | The Totana City Council has urged the regional government to design a Regional Plan for the Return of Young Murcian Talent with concrete measures, such as facilitating young people under 35 years of age who, having emigrated due to lack of job opportunities and so wish, can return. This request comes in response to a plenary agreement a few months ago, approved unanimously by the Municipal Corporation and at the initiative of the Councilor for Citizens integrated into the Mixed Municipal Group. The agreement advocates strengthening the coordination networks between the different institutions to integrate actions, and promote a system of recognition of training and experience acquired in stays abroad. It is also proposed to establish accompanying measures beyond the time of return to allow time for adaptation and normalization within our social fabric, and to implement a two-way communication channel between the economic administration and young people from Murcia who have had to emigrate. In addition, we want to put at your disposal tools for guidance, tutoring and job placement. As of January 2019, there were more than 41,000 natives of the Region living in other countries.

This is the highest figure since there is data, in 2009, when there were 20,290 emigrants. The number of Murcians residing abroad reached 41,497 as of January 1, 2019, according to data from the Register of Spaniards Residing Abroad (PERE) published by the National Institute of Statistics (INE). The high unemployment rate, the economic crisis of recent years and international experience are some of the causes that contribute to young people wanting to change countries. Most of the young Spaniards are willing to change their place of residence to improve professionally; specifically, 78.96% affirm that they would leave Spain to work.
