| In order to reverse the policies of urban, commercial and mobility expansion not in accordance with said declaration | The municipality of Totana has been declared a Climate Emergency, which entails reversing all urban, commercial and mobility expansion policies not in accordance with this declaration; as well as establishing the political commitments, regulations and resources necessary to guarantee reductions of greenhouse gases in its scope of management to reach a net zero balance no later than 2050.The same declaration carries a commitment to halt the loss of biodiversity and restore ecosystems as the only possible response to avoid a collapse of all natural systems, including human; as contemplated in the agreement established by the municipal plenary session last June, at the initiative of the Socialist Group.Totana will work, to the extent of its possibilities, to promote the progressive abandonment of fossil fuels, betting on 100% renewable energy as an urgent and priority. For this, the Totanero Council will analyze how to achieve this objective and will propose the necessary action plans, such as not supporting new infrastructures or equipment based on fossil fuels, achieving full 100% renewable electricity self-consumption and sustainable mobility as soon as possible. In addition, it will be advocated to promote the use and construction of pedestrian spaces through the Municipal Pedestrianization Table and the Mobility Plan will be reviewed, prioritizing sustainable, collective and non-polluting transport models.Work will also be done on reducing energy demand to sustainable consumption and promoting increased energy efficiency and renewable installations; and in promoting knowledge and information about climate change and sustainable and environmentally friendly life models in educational spaces. The Totanero Consistory undertakes to avoid, from the Local Administration, to work with those banks that finance projects based on fossil fuels; and to support the management focused on the preservation and recovery of fertile land and the adoption of measures to stop erosion, as well as the non-over-exploitation and recovery of aquifers. The agreement establishes the determination of support, tax benefits and development plans for the rural areas of the municipality, as well as the promotion of sustainable agricultural uses and practices that can contribute to the mitigation of climate change. The Totana City Council plans to work in the so-called Table for the Climate Emergency, committing itself to advance in the development of a local and proximity economy, which helps combat the effects of climate change and the reduction of greenhouse gases. This declaration entails the design and application, through citizen participation and strictly transparent channels, strategies and action plan to combat climate change in our municipality in terms of energy, recycling, mobility, food, education, employment and democracy; and to do so, in addition, from a gender and equality perspective and integrating especially vulnerable groups.
