| To prevent the spread of COVID-19 infections | The Social Center for the Elderly in the Plaza de la Balsa Vieja and the one in the district of El Paretón-Cantareros keep their doors closed until September to prevent the spread of COVID-19 infections, although the closure extension could be extended if the competent authorities consider it and taking into account the epidemiological data of the pandemic in the Region. Both Municipal Social Centers for the Elderly have been closed since mid-March, when the state of alarm was declared, and in mid-June it was agreed to extend their closure for this summer.Only the day centers were opened at the beginning of last July following instructions from the Murcian Institute of Social Action (IMAS).The City Council has already agreed to the new opening for September following the technical recommendations of the IMAS, and given the high risk of contagion due to the special vulnerability of the users of these services. In this way, it is advocated for the maintenance, as far as possible, of the telematic and home care activities that until now have been provided.
