The Department of Equality will organize the 1st Prize for Poetry, Short Story and Comic about LGTBI in order to give visibility to this citizen group, and promote literary and artistic creativity in this municipality within the program of commemorative activities that are going to organize at the end of this month of June to commemorate and claim the rights of these people for the International LGBTI Pride Day.All authors over 18 years of age may participate in the contest, with unpublished works, be they poems, short stories or comics, that have not been previously published or awarded; being the theme of the work around the LGTBI field.In addition, texts that are offensive to LGTBI people and those that contain misspellings will be discarded; and the creativity and originality of the works will be valued.
Each author will present a maximum of two works in each of these modalities: verse, stories or comics.The bases include that the works will be presented for Short Stories – Poems, with Times New Roman font or similar, size 12 and double-spaced, on one side only; while in the Comic mode, the link must be submitted through WeTransfer (each page of the comic must be presented in JPG format).The stories will have a minimum of 15 lines and a maximum of 2 pages and the poems a minimum of 15 verses and a maximum of 50, with freedom of meter or rhyme; while the comic with a maximum of 4 pages.
On the first page, the title of the work and the pseudonym will be stated.The deadline to present the works will be until June 25 and will be made public on June 30, so that the works will be sent to the address: concejaliaigualdad@totana.es.
The subject of the email will be: I Poetry, Short Stories or LGTBI Comics 2020 Contest and in the body of the email the category of Poetry, Story or Comic.
In 2 files: One with the work that will bear the same title as the submitted work and the other with the author's / author's personal details: name, address, telephone and email.In this way, all works that comply with the exposed bases will be accepted and they will receive an email confirming receipt of the work.
The jury will be made up of the Councilor for Equality, Javier Baños, or person in whom he delegates, a member of the Municipal Council of Equality and two people with recognized experience in the matters; and the prizes will be 200 euros and 100 euros for the first two winners of each modality.The Department of Equality may have the awarded works for the dissemination of the website of the city council or the possible publication in any medium; reason why it is wanted to invite to participate in the summons of the mentioned contest.
