| The Ministry of Environment will only authorize them in "justified" cases and with prior notice to the Local Police of each municipality | The Autonomous Community has prohibited the burning of plant remains from pruning in areas close to the urban centers of the municipalities while the central government maintains the state of alarm, according to the Order of the Ministry of Water, Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and the Environment that collects since yesterday Wednesday the Official Bulletin of the Region of Murcia (BORM). The regional government thus responds to the request of the Prosecutor of the Region of Murcia regarding the need for public administrations - regional and local - to take extreme measures in relation to agricultural burning and its impact on health and the environment.

environment in a context like the current one, marked by the COVID-19 crisis. This respite comes at a key moment in the face of the summer months, in which there is also an increase in temperatures, combined with the phenomenon known as thermal inversion - which prevents smoke from rising and dissipating in the atmosphere - and most of the population locked up in their homes, except during authorized exits, due to the coronavirus pandemic. In the current context, the Autonomous Community allows the burning, on an exceptional basis, in those suitably justified assumptions, which are previously valued and authorized by the corresponding city council, given the impossibility of elimination through other priority systems such as their valorization by an authorized manager.

, or its incorporation into the soil by crushing or chopping. In any case, the Order signed by the counselor Antonio Luengo states that the exceptional burning must be carried out avoiding inconvenience to the neighbors and previously informing the Local Police or the Fire Extinguishing Service, who may issue specific instructions on the way to do it.The Ministry also recalls that burning is the only solution to certain drought pests, such as "scotilids and big-headed worms", which take refuge in the remains of plant material generated on the farm itself, "constituting a reservoir for certain harmful organisms that serve for dissemination to neighboring plots.
