Local Police appeal to common sense and civic responsibility of parents coinciding with children's first exits after confinement (26/04/2020)

| Urges guardians to comply with protection measures and safeguard security measures to avoid risks of contagion | The Local Police of Totana appeals to common sense and to the civic responsibility of the parents, coinciding today with the first exits of the children after the house arrest decreed six weeks ago as a result of the state of alarm for the coronavirus. In this sense, from the Local Police the guardians are urged to comply with the protection measures and safeguard the security measures to avoid risks of contagion after so much effort by the families for 45 days.In this regard, it is recalled that starting this Sunday, children under 14 years old can go out into the streets, although they will be walks of maximum one hour and less than a kilometer from their homes; and they will be able to run, jump and carry their own toys although always following the distance and hygiene instructions. The Ministry of Health has published a Guide to Good Practice that follows the recommendations of the Spanish Association of Pediatrics and the General Council of Nursing (attached document attached)Who will be able to go out?Children under fourteen years old, always accompanied by an adult.

They will be short walks, which cannot exceed one hour, between 9:00 and 21:00.Those minors who present symptoms or are in home isolation due to a diagnosis of coronavirus, or who are in quarantine for having had contact with a person diagnosed or with symptoms, may not do so.Children with disabilities, who have behavioral disturbances, such as autism spectrum disorders and disruptive behaviors, in which confinement may aggravate the situation, may circulate on the street as often as medically advisable, as long as the necessary measures to avoid contagion are respected.Who should accompany them? The boys and girls will go on their daily walk always accompanied by a responsible adult who lives with them.

At most, the adult can go out with three children.A responsible adult is understood to be a person of legal age who lives with the child at the same address at the present time, or who is a household employee in charge of the minor. When the responsible adult is a different person from the parents, guardians, curators, foster parents or legal guardians, or in fact, they must have prior authorization from them.Where can they go?Through any road or space for public use, including natural spaces and authorized green areas, that are not more than one kilometer from the home, but access to "outdoor children's recreational spaces, as well as sports facilities" is not allowed. As far as possible, it is recommended to walk in the sunny hours and avoid departures at peak times of entry and exit of work centers in the area where you live.It is the adult's responsibility to ensure that the requirements are met during the ride to avoid possible contagion. How to prepare the departure? Before leaving you have to wash your hands.

It is necessary to explain "very well" to the children that they must keep their distance from other people, which the Government has established at least two meters, and hand hygiene is also essential.

They should be taught that they do not have to touch their eyes, nose and mouth and that when coughing or sneezing, for example, they should cover their elbow flexed.Children must also be exposed to the new situation because if they are small they may be scared to see people wearing masks. You should not generate false expectations about the outings, such as that you will see your friends or that they will be able to go to places or do things that are not allowed.

They must know "the rules of the game" and that they cannot relate to other children.

In this sense, it can be useful to practice all the preventive measures at home before playing. The World Health Organization has prepared a children's story thinking to help especially children between 6 and 11 years old to face the pandemic. Can they bring toys?Yes, also scooters or balls, but they cannot take the others. What can be done on the street?Exercise, run, jump but you have to avoid touching anything on the street. You can not stay with friends or do group sports activities.Only occasionally can you talk to third parties, but always keeping the distance of approximately two meters.

Communication must be brief. Is the use of masks necessary? And gloves? In the event that you will go to places where it is not safe to maintain a distance of approximately two meters between people, the use of a hygienic mask is recommended from 3 years and provided that proper use of the same. The AEP considers that the mask "is not a panacea", but adds a further degree of protection.

If the child tolerates it, he can carry it, otherwise and if he starts to touch it or play with it, it is better not to.Care must be taken not to drop the mask on the floor.

As for gloves, the AEP cautions that they have a sometimes "detrimental" effect by giving a false sense of protection. What to do when you return home?If the mask is not reusable, it should be disposed of at home, in the waste fraction bin or undifferentiated, subsequently ensuring that the bag is tightly closed. The Board of Nursing recommends leaving shoes and toys that have been taken to the street in a box and cleaning them; and wash your hands well and if it is the case, remove the masks.
