The Ministry of Health recorded, as of yesterday, a total of 6 cases of coronavirus in Totana since the epidemic began in the Region of Murcia, of the total of 31 cases registered by Area 3 of Health to which this municipality belongs.

According to the official report of the Ministry sent to the City Council, in the Region of Murcia until the date of the report dated March 27, there have been 802 confirmed cases of COVID infection19.

The first case was declared on March 6 and confirmed as positive on March 8.

To date, 231 cases have been admitted to hospitals in the Region, of which 58 are in the ICU.

Home isolation was indicated to 68% of the confirmed patients and 39 patients were discharged from the hospital for clinical improvement.

12 patients have already been epidemiologically discharged and 17 deaths have occurred.

The percentage of cases imported from another country or another CCAA has gone from 55% in the analysis carried out on March 18 to 22% in the current analysis.

30% of the cases are epidemiologically linked to a previous case from outside or within the Region (secondary cases).

44% of the cases at present are autochthonous without a clear epidemiological link, which indicates that there is community transmission in the Region of Murcia

Cartagena and Murcia remain as the cities with the most cases, being 94 and 283 respectively.

In the Valle del Guadalentín region, it should be noted that Lorca with 13 cases and Águilas with 9 cases are the most affected municipalities, ahead of the 6 registered by Totana.

Thus, in Health Area III, which belongs to the Guadalentín Valley, a total of 31 cases have been registered, out of a population of 175,500, which represents 17.64%.

Hospitalization at some point during their illness (not hospitalized today) of 240 cases of the 674 respondents (35.6%), with 41.9% of hospitalizations in men and 29.1%, has been recorded. in women.

The mean age of the hospitalized group is 62 years and the median is 64 years.

The mean hospitalization in those cases (excluding deceased) who have been discharged from hospital is 3.6 days, median 3.5 days.

Most of the cases have presented a picture of mild acute respiratory infection, with 169 cases of pneumonia, of which 22 had acute respiratory distress syndrome.

Of the total of 674 cases analyzed, 50.9% (343) have some underlying disease that predisposes to being more serious.

In addition, the Murcian Health Service is monitoring 1,339 "possible" cases of COVID-19.

In the whole of the Region, it is estimated that there are 11343 "possible" cases of coronavirus, related to close people or relatives of the patients and that are being analyzed and followed day by day.
