The mayor denies that the religious companions of the deceased nun were admitted (23/03/2020)

The mayor, Juan José Cánovas, publicly denied today that the religious companions of the deceased nun were admitted to the Rafael Méndez hospital and stressed that the City Council safeguarded the deceased's right to privacy "out of respect and human dignity."

The first mayor, in his public appearance, reported that the nuns who presented symptoms were isolated, and that all the necessary protection measures had been taken by the municipal and health services.

In addition, from the different municipal sources, at no time was the name even the initials of the deceased nun given, since in fact, these data had been published by some printed means in their digital editions.

The Totana City Council regrets that neighbors are calling the regional media to offer uncontested information posing as official sources or close to the newsworthy event.

All the information, from the beginning of the crisis, is being channeled from the Mayor's Office;

reason why the need to avoid transmitting false or contrasted information and fleeing from hoaxes or misinformation is reiterated.

Finally, the mayor wants to send a message of solidarity and condolences to the entire religious and educational community of the Daughters of Charity in these difficult times.
