The mayor of Totana, Juan José Cánovas, thanked the institutional disposition of all the political groups that make up the Municipal Corporation to face and coordinate joint actions that allow developing measures for the coronavirus epidemic in this municipality.
The first mayor is maintaining communication with the spokespersons of the different municipal groups, from whom he has received his offer to collaborate within the normal channels of institutional loyalty in the face of a public health crisis such as the one being experienced these days.
Juan José Cánovas has ensured that the information to the spokespersons and the public in general will be fluid and transparent through the official channels of communication within the limitations that exist, and always following the guidelines and recommendations of prevention and application of the Councils of Health and Education, the Federation of Municipalities of the Region of Murcia and the Ministry of Health.
The totanero councilor has reiterated the message of tranquility, responsibility and prudence, which are being transferred by the different competent administrations, since the emergence of the epidemic, before the first cases in the Region of Murcia and in this municipality last Sunday.
Cánovas has advised to remain calm and not to generate excessive or unnecessary social alarms, to trust the public health systems of Spain, not to collapse the health services of the Health and Emergency Centers, to obey the warnings and recommendations of prevention and telephone procedures in cases of doubt or symptomatology.
In addition, he stressed that it is not necessary to collect products in the event of alleged shortages of supermarkets and, above all, ignore or promote false or bizarre news, and only be informed by official channels of information.
Finally, he recalled that the staff of Local Police and Civil Protection are prepared and equipped with the necessary material for weeks to deal with situations that arise and there is a group with toilets from health centers to channel information.
Likewise, it has been added that the possibility of suspending sports, cultural and social events promoted by the City Council is being assessed, and which will be reported promptly in the next few hours as preventive measures of contagion.
