INSTITUTIONAL MANIFESTO OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF TOTANA IN COMMEMORATION OF THE INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY, MARCH 8, 2020

March 8 brings us together around principles and values that commit us as women and men.

In commemoration of International Women's Day we remember all those who lost their lives in the fire of a New York factory in 1911.

One hundred and nine years later, despite the progress made, there is still much to do in terms of gender equality and, therefore, every day of the year we must work for the achievement of real equality since only laws that establish the equality of gender does not transform the existing patriarchal culture alone.

This is a day that must be present all year long: the day of the claim of rights, the demand of the right place, that of building a common future of freedom for our sons and daughters.

That will be our source of pride for generations to come.

There is still much to be achieved, such as eliminating the digital divide, achieving equal pay or banishing the idea that conciliation concerns them.

In this sense, society in general and public authorities, in particular, have the obligation to seek all means aimed at achieving objectives that achieve a more democratic, fairer and more supportive society, to implement related policies with effective equality between women and men and the fight against gender violence (VG), because we remember that the State Pact against VG that was approved in September 2017 has already turned 2 years old, and a good part is still pending development of the.

International Women's Day is an opportunity to transform this momentum into measures to empower women in all settings.

We want to grow, develop and educate ourselves, in a free, modern and egalitarian society, we believe in that future thanks to the involvement of the youngest as those who are here today and the increasing involvement of the male figure in the policies of equality and in building this reality.

It is necessary to insist on the need to promote the values of respect and equality, from education, advertising and the media.

It is essential to insist on other models of relating, in another way of looking at each other, in a better representation in the public and private space.

Let no one think that everything is done.

Achieve real equality of opportunities between women and men every day in which everyone is responsible.

We are on the road, educating on equality is possible and necessary to achieve it.

Let's try to join forces to achieve full equality, without any doubt.

Between all and all it is possible.

Experience tells us that in diversity there is wealth and in equity, virtue.

Let's fight for:

· Gender equality, which guarantees the rights of girls, adolescents and women effectively, overcoming stereotypes.

Because in this life we all have the same rights and, in these times, there are many difficulties for us to freely choose our own rights.

· Gender equality in the promotion of sexism-free health.

Because we, like you, like to ensure our well-being.

· Gender equality in the access and use of ICTs with creativity and respect.

· Gender equality from the intergenerational perspective.

Because we are inheritance of the struggle of our elders who have achieved many rights that we can enjoy.

· Gender equality in respect for emotional and sexual diversity.

Because I am free to choose and love who I love without fear of being judged.

· Gender equality to build a committed citizenship and an inclusive society.

Every right we enjoy today has been fought and claimed by women and men throughout history.

They are common achievements that, despite our differences, unite us in a common goal: to build an egalitarian society, in which men and women share spaces and times, with the same opportunities and as a key piece for sustainable development.

Let's make March 8 a day of recognition of women's rights and international peace.

We have the obligation to remember our progress and the will and commitment to continue working to achieve the goals that the 21st century itself proposes.

Let us reserve this moment to keep some moments of silence for those women who have died victims of abuse.

The enormous injustice of gender inequality has silenced them forever.

In our hands is to end these unfortunate events.

Education, respect and tolerance are the best tools to achieve it.

Let's not stop for a moment!

Is our moment!.

HAPPY UNITED NATIONS DAY

FOR WOMEN'S RIGHTS

AND INTERNATIONAL PEACE
