Students of the IES Prado Mayor attend a dog show of animals that work to contribute to the psychological recovery of victims of gender violence (04/03/2020)

Students of different courses of the IES Prado Mayor attended today a dog show of animals that work with victims of gender violence within the framework of the ESCAN Project that finances the Autonomous Community of Murcia, an awareness activity promoted by the center in the framework of those of International Women's Day.

This initiative to raise awareness and fight against gender-based violence, which has taken place in the field adjacent to the municipal stadium "Juan Cayuela", focuses on the victim, providing him with a tool to recover it psychologically and attributing empowerment and freedom to resume his life. .

The activity has been assisted by the Councilor for Women and Equality, Javier Baños, technicians of this municipal department, the director of IES, Marisol Martínez, and representatives of the entire educational community of the institute.

That freedom is reflected in aspects not only psychological, but labor, social, educational and family;

Because initially working on isolation and fear assisted with a trained dog, you can effectively improve aspects of your daily life, as IES students have verified live.

The project is aimed directly at women victims of gender-based violence, their families and their immediate surroundings;

and indirectly, it also has the objective of sensitizing the whole society to advance in the necessary implication that contributes to the eradication of violence in the most intimate sphere.

Within the framework of this project, activities are organized in educational centers with dogs in order to reach students and sensitized entities with gender violence, so that they can collaborate in the development of this tool to support women who suffer from it, and that they let you regain control of their lives.

The project provides a therapy of assisted psychological recovery and, simultaneously, provides a tool for the prevention of physical and psychological aggressions, so that through this therapy assisted with dogs, they work on isolation, fear, self-esteem, among others, and from that recovery they advance in Integral recovery

This is carried out through a first phase of selection of the dog and the user with which it will coexist, a second phase of socialization and development of the bond, the third phase of training and the final phase of monitoring and evaluation;

all of them under the control of professional therapists and trainers.

The project is innovative to combine psychological therapy with the protection provided by the dog, allowing a remarkable therapeutic effectiveness, superior to "classical therapy", so that the presence of the dog is a support tool for the institutions responsible for monitoring and victim protection, providing valuable time for such assistance to be activated.
