A total of 87 new cases of women were treated in the CAVI of Totana during the past year 2019 (24/02/2020)

A total of 87 new cases of women were treated at the Specialized Care Center for Women Victims of Gender Violence (CAVI) of Totana during the past year 2019, increasing the figure to 876 women since 2008 that was launched this resource.

The City Council of Totana, through the Department of Women and Equality, convened last Thursday, January 30, the Local Bureau of Coordination against Gender Violence (MLC), as it has been done since 2013, the year in which This instrument is launched and promoted in the municipality of Totana.

The Local Coordination Board is an operative work tool in which all municipal agents directly or indirectly involved in the fight against gender violence are represented in order to optimize and coordinate all the actions required for this purpose.

The general objective is the promotion at the municipal level, of policies and actions for the eradication of gender violence.

This coordination instrument has been meeting periodically in the municipality, every six months;

This session was attended by different agents involved in the areas of Health, Youth, Education, Equality, CAVI, Municipal Center of Social Services, Coordination Unit Against Violence on Women of the Government Delegation, Civil Guard, Local Police, SEF and Totana Red Cross

On the same day, after the end of this meeting, the Police Coordination Board (MCP) against gender-based violence, chaired by the Councilor for Citizen Security, Agustín Gonzalo Hernández, took place in order to monitor local security coordination for women victims of gender violence in the municipality.

The MCP is convened on the same day as the MLC, and also semiannually.

Among the functions of this table are those of analyzing local situations and data on gender violence as well as promoting coordination between the Security Forces and Bodies (Civil Guard, Local Police) and the CAVI together with other local and regional resources, for the sake of to optimize the actions in protection and improve the attention to the women of the municipality that face violence by their partners or ex-partners.

The signing of the agreement to join the VioGén System last year is allowing greater cooperation and coordination between Local Police and Civil Guard, strengthening the management, care and protection of women Victims of Gender Violence.

CAVI is a specialized resource in the field of attention to gender violence, which is composed of three professionals (psychologist, social worker and legal advisor) who provide specialized advice available to citizens from Monday to Friday.
