Neighbors of Totana:
It has been more than 6 months since the Civil Platform "NOW TOTANA" has a voice and vote in the plenary of the municipality of Totana.
The platform came with the ultimate goal of improving the life of the Totaneros trying to change the concept as far as local policy is concerned;
and trying to solve what is in our hand, which affects in one way or another, the neighbors of Totana.
With the assistance already a few plenary sessions, one of the "customs" that has attracted the attention of the local political groups, is what we call "Stuffing motions."
These motions that are presented happily in the plenary, are those that remain outside the local sphere, that is to say, a series of issues that have nothing to do with the real problems of the neighbors are urged to discuss in the plenary session, and that with This debate (even with the approval of the same motion), is not able to influence in any way that it comes to fruition or not.
We do not really know the ultimate purpose of presenting these motions, we do not know if it is a matter of going out in the media the more the better, or that there are no clear ideas or interesting proposals for citizens;
the case is that it seems to be customary in the plenary this type of motions from time ago.
We think that the motions and therefore the debates of the plenary itself should be focused on dealing with the demands and needs of Totana's neighbors and districts, and not dealing with other issues that are outside the real competence of the city council.
National issues, the Autonomous Community and other municipalities must be addressed in the corresponding "forums".
In this way, the local plenary sessions would be more dynamic, interesting and enjoyable, since the topics discussed would directly affect the neighbors, and in this way they would be more involved and it is possible that they would participate more actively.
We want to make it clear that in the face of this type of proposals, commissions, and motions of filler, our position will be very clear: ABSTENTION.
Everything that is outside the local competences, is not our business, and therefore having other real problems of the totaneros, we will not spend a single minute on issues that do not compete with us, and that with our vote, we cannot influence their approval or rejection.
The rest are stories even if others continue with photos and videos distracting the staff, or their corresponding palm trees.
To our knowledge, many things have to be changed: this is one of them.
