They agree to start the file to declare Adoptive Son of the City of Totana, Professor Antonio Rojas Camacho, director of the Reina Sofía College for years (06/02/2020)

The Plenary Session of the City Council of Totana has agreed unanimously in the last ordinary session, that the file be initiated, in the shortest possible time, to declare Professor Antonio Rojas Camacho, promoter and director of the Reina Sofía School, as Adoptive Son of The City of Totana.

This agreement, promoted at the initiative of the Municipal Socialist Group, will start a procedure that will be carried out under the technical supervision of the Department of Citizen Participation, under the Honors and Distinctions Regulations of the Totanero Consistory.

Antonio Rojas Camacho, a native of Cieza, arrived in Totana in 1982 along with nine young teachers to open the Reina Sofía Concerted College of Education, finding the unparalleled collaboration of the parents of the San Francisco neighborhood.

This school began its career in the 1983/1984 academic year and for 36 years has been teaching continuously, so that for fifteen years he was director of the center as well as teacher and throughout his teaching stage, which is about to end , transmitting to his students his love for the traditions and history of our people.

Rojas has actively participated in the perpetuation of our folklore and customs, being part of several local groups such as A Contracanto, Coral San Buenaventura, Coral Santiago and La Banda del Mazapán, among others;

and has collaborated with all the groups that have required their presence.

He is an active and passionate member of the Brotherhood of Jesus in Calvary and Holy Supper of Totana for 25 years, living the local Holy Week with great intensity.

In addition, it is also part of the Totana Sender Club and participant in the events organized by the club.

Currently, having more time, actively collaborates with the Spanish Red Cross in Totana in a committed way.

Antonio Rojas is the father of two daughters who feel totaneras without any reservation and to which he has intensely transmitted his belonging to Totana, whose legacy of belonging to this town now transmits with enthusiasm to his first grandson.

He acknowledges that much of his happiness comes from the fact of living in Totana, and is a person well known and loved by all who are lucky enough to frequent him, bearing the name of this city with pride where he goes.

Likewise, it has become an indispensable and recognizable part of the totanero paisanaje and, as reflected in the motion, it is considered fair that this municipal Corporation recognized it publicly by granting said honorary title, that he held with pride and thanks.
