The mayor of Totana, Juan José Cánovas, requires the Health Area Management III to urgently fix the elevator of the Totana Norte Health Center that has been damaged for almost a month, with the consequent inconvenience that is causing users and professionals, and that is preventing proper care for the sick.
The first mayor publicly states that the problems that the elevator is causing in recent weeks, which since January 8 is broken and fixed regularly and uninterruptedly without giving it a definitive solution, are characteristic of "a third-world management";
and remember that this is exclusive to the Ministry of Health.
The councilor considers that this situation "is not from any acceptable point of view" because, as he says, "it is causing serious damage to users, especially in the case of elderly and dependent persons; and also to doctors and nurses, who are sometimes forced to attend to the sick people on the ground floor of the building. "
Juan José Cánovas denounces the problems he is encountering to contact the manager of the Health Area III of Lorca, Enrique José Casado, with whom he has tried to maintain telephone communication several times during the last week to give an account of this situation, as well as the concern and discomfort caused by the impediments of accessibility to the first floor consultations and the need to solve the problem as soon as possible.
Cánovas regrets the "little respect" that this Administration has for the figure of the mayor and for the municipal institution, who also does not have competences in this matter although he does receive complaints from users of this Health Center;
and urges that it be resolved definitively so as not to aggravate or lengthen more in time a situation that is causing a great setback in the services of said sanitary infrastructure.
The Totana Norte Health Center offers the medical services of Family Medicine, Pediatrics, Nursing, Radiology, Gynecological Support Unit, Physiotherapy, Sample Collection, Dentistry and Oral Health Unit, Midwife, Social Worker and Primary Care Emergency Services (SUAP), serving thousands of users of the urban area and districts.
10 family doctors, 3 pediatricians, 10 nurses, 8 administrative assistants, 2 nursing assistants, 1 guardian, 1 physiotherapist, 1 midwife, 1 dentist and 1 social worker are attached to this center.
