The Plenary Session of the City Council of Totana recently agreed, unanimously, in its last ordinary session, the joint motion of all municipal groups to sign a collaboration agreement with the Illustrious Superior Council of Processions to finance the amount resulting from the realization and commissioning operation of the Museum of Holy Week in this town, whose amount will initially be supported by the Cabildo by bank loan.
In addition, it was approved to urge the Ministry of Culture for the preparation of the aforementioned agreement, as well as request the Intervention Services for the inclusion in the draft budget for the year 2021 of a budget item with the necessary credit that gives economic coverage to this agreement.
The way of financing the amount resulting from the financing of the musealization project of Holy Week will be through the annual contribution of the figure stipulated in the collaboration agreement to be signed between the Illustrious Superior Cabildo of Processions of Totana and the Totanero City Council during the Next ten years.
Thus, no expense has to be committed for this year or next year 2020, the expected date of completion of the project under consideration;
and it will be already by 2021 when the amount stipulated in the agreement to sign during the next fiscal year 2020 will be committed.
The musealization project is planned to be projected and located at the headquarters of the Illustrious Superior Council of Processions (Castillo Street, number 4), in the beginning of the San José neighborhood;
It consists of two floors of about 130 square meters, where it would try to take advantage of the entire ground floor and an area of ​​the first floor, as follows from the project carried out by the architect Francisco Guerao López.
The project would contemplate about 150 square meters in total, where the most representative elements of the Holy Week of Totana would be exhibited, mainly, the elements that most differentiate us from other processions and pasonal parades of neighboring municipalities, such as typical speakers, tablets , black tunic and gastronomic tradition, among others.
For the realization of the museum, a project was made to request Leader aid through the Rural Development Agency CAMPODER, which was selected and granted a lost fund grant of 24,000 euros.
From the granting of this aid, all mechanisms were activated with the Public Administrations to obtain the rest of the financing up to 100,000 euros contemplated in the final budget for its completion.
To this are added the meetings with the Ministry of Culture to make an economic contribution that will amount to 15,000 euros by the General Directorate of Museums, integrating this new infrastructure and the Regional Network of Museums of the Region of Murcia, with the consequent media relevance, advice and participation in other exhibitions of interest.
For the material execution of the project, the Cabildo participates, as it cannot be otherwise, with its own funds and also with the collaboration of Totana companies.
To finalize the realization of the project is the municipal contribution to it, initially stipulated in an amount of 21,000 euros.
This project will be a cultural incentive for the municipality of Totana, boosting tourism and increasing the regional museum offer;
but above all, favoring visits to Totana, and completing the scheduled offer to other places of tourist interest such as the Church Tower Museum, the parish of Santiago, Fuente and Arco de San Pedro, pottery area, among others .
