Elsa storms will affect the Region of Murcia from tomorrow Friday (19/12/2019)

A powerful storm has begun to affect Spain today in the form of heavy and / or persistent rains, very intense and widespread winds and strong waves.

We will notice its effects in the Region of Murcia tomorrow Friday, although not so intensely.

On Saturday and Sunday it will be the storm Fabien that affects the peninsula.

Tomorrow Friday, a very active front will arrive in the Region from the west, so it will be a very cloudy or overcast day and there will be weak, more intense and frequent rains in the interior and less on the coast, where they will be scarce.

In areas such as the Northwest region, 20 mm could be exceeded.

In many other areas it could be registered between 5 and 10 mm, and less in the coast.

On Saturday it would only rain weakly in the Northwest and Altiplano at dawn.

The wind will be strong, with very strong gusts in the Campo de Cartagena and Mazarrón and in high areas of the Northwest and the Guadalentín Valley, Lorca and Águilas.

Therefore, the AEMET has activated the yellow warning for gusts that can exceed 70 km / h in these areas at any time of the day, following the warning activated in the Northwest during Saturday.

In the Guadalentín Valley, the most intense gusts will be recorded in the mountains, and in the valley they could exceed 50 km / h.

On Sunday you can still register strong gusts of wind.

The situation of strong winds will cause a harsh storm at sea, with waves that can reach 3 or 4 m high, so the orange warning has been activated during Friday and Saturday.

The origin of the wind, which will vary between south and west, will make temperatures high for the time in the coming days.

Unlike the southeast, the west, center and south of Spain suffer an intense drought, so this situation will be very beneficial for its reservoirs, but also for the southeast, thanks to the rains so abundant that are expected at the head of the Segura and Mundo rivers, which will have a positive impact on the reservoirs in the area.

Take extra precautions in the coming days for wind and waves, and also for rain if you are traveling to other areas of Spain
