The Christmas School, work and family reconciliation program promoted by the Collective for Social Promotion "El Candil", will be held from December 23 to January 3, coinciding with the period of Christmas school holidays, and responding to a demand social and educational that many families in the municipality have during this time of year.
The Councilor for Youth, Inmaculada Blázquez, and the representative of this association, Alba Cánovas, have presented this new program in which a total of 100 boys and girls between the ages of 3 and 12 will participate for free.
This will take place, as in previous years, at La Cruz and Santiago schools, from Monday to Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
and it will also be offered, for those families that need it, morning time extension, from 8:00 a.m. and evening, until 3:00 p.m., respectively.
The gratuity of the service is possible by virtue of the direct subsidy granted to the City Council of Totana, and which is funded by the European Social Fund 2014/2020 and the Ministry of Women, Equality, LGTBI, Families and Social Policy of the Autonomous Community of the Murcia region.
This year amounts to 10,509 euros, this being the fourth consecutive year that the municipality benefits from this aid.
The purpose of the program is to provide services for reconciling work and private life in the municipality and cover the needs of children while their parents are working or receiving training for employment, and to make it possible, it is necessary to develop actions that will allow to balance their employment with family and personal development in a balanced way.
As explained by the mayor of Youth, reconciling Christmas holidays with work or training for employment is an important effort for these parents, since there are more and more families in which both parents are working.
Inmaculada Blázquez commented that the project tries, in short, to provide a necessary service in the locality, aimed at families with school-aged minors in charge, between the ages of 3 and 12, where the reconciliation of work and family life and the Socio-educational well-being of children is the top priority.
The contract for the realization of this project has been awarded, through a hiring process, to the Collective for Social Promotion "El Candil", an entity with long experience and extensive experience in performing these services.
Participants will work in the conciliation service on Christmas holidays, among others, health education and physical activity, popular games, audiovisual communication and ICTs, sustainable development and environment, promotion of creativity and education in values.
In addition, they will also develop activities related to emotional intelligence, education for diversity and equal opportunities, coexistence and relationship in community, solidarity and commitment and knowledge, and knowledge about the theme "Christmas in the world", with a broad program of training and pedagogical actions.
With the launch of this service, it is intended to reconcile work, family and personal life;
meet the demand and existing need for leisure activities during the Christmas holidays (sports, leisure and outdoor activities, educational reinforcement, craft workshops and creative expression; and activities that promote gender equality, education in values ​​and of healthy habits.
The mayor of Youth thanked, finally, the educational community of the schools of La Cruz and Santiago for their collaboration and involvement in the development of these holiday schools;
and congratulated the Collective for Social Promotion "El Candil" for this project so complete and ambitious that comes to complete a service so necessary at this time of year for so many families in Totana.
