The totanero Gabino Martínez selected to become a promise of haute cuisine (16/12/2019)

Le Cordon Bleu Madrid has published the list of selected from all over Spain that will be eligible this year for the Promises Award for haute cuisine.

Among all the applications received in the registration phase, a total of 50 students have been selected to access the next phase of the contest.

The contest allows its winners to fulfill a dream and continue to form in one of the most prestigious culinary schools worldwide thanks to the scholarships granted by the Promises Award.

Murcia has been one of the autonomous communities that has obtained the greatest representation through its five candidates, according to Murcia.com sources of the organization.

The selected Murcia students are: Eduardo Roberto González, Mario Alejandro Aranda, Alejandro Emilio Celdrán, Ana María Martínez and the totanero Gabino Martínez.

In this second phase, students from 28 schools in 23 provinces will be distributed throughout the territory.

The regions of the Canary Islands, Catalonia, Murcia, the Basque Country, Castilla y León, the Valencian Community, Cantabria, Castilla la Mancha, Navarra, Galicia and Madrid will also be represented.

Videoreceta to make a difference

Murcia candidates will have until January 31 to make a videotape of five minutes maximum.

This should follow guidelines set by Le Cordon Bleu Madrid.

Despite this, the recipe will have elements of free choice by the candidates, which will allow them to make a difference with their recipe and put their proposals into value.

As the candidates present their videorecetas, they will be staying on the YouTube channel of the Prize as well as in an application where the public can know their creations and support their favorite recipe by voting.

This popular vote will be taken into account by the School to choose the 10 students who will play the grand final.

After the deliberation of the jury of the School, on February 27, Le Cordon Bleu Madrid will announce on its official website the 10 students who will compete at the headquarters of the school in Madrid for becoming the Promise of haute cuisine in April 2020 In the grand finale they must present their plate in front of the jury that in previous editions has been chaired by reference chefs such as Martín Berasategui, Quique Dacosta, Joan Roca or Andoni Luis Aduriz, president of the last edition.

The winner of the final will receive a scholarship valued at more than 23,000 euros to expand their training in haute cuisine at the school based at the Francisco de Vitoria University.

The second classified will also have the opportunity to study a certificate valued at more than 8,500 euros and, finally, Le Cordon Bleu Madrid will reward the first prize-winning school with 1,500 euros for their dedication and support throughout the process.
