Totana today celebrates the International Day of Persons with Disabilities in an institutional event in which local authorities, users and professionals of the Day Centers participate (02/12/2019)

Totana celebrated today the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, which takes place tomorrow, in an institutional act, in the municipal session hall, under the slogan "He who is different from me, does not impoverish me: it enriches me."

Local authorities, users and professionals from the Day Centers of this town participated, as well as the Pilar Soubrier de Lorca Special Education College and the Association of Parents with Children with Intellectual Disabilities of the Region of Lorca (Apandis), From the pot.

The act was chaired by the Councilor for Social Welfare, Javier Baños, and attended by different councilors of the Municipal Corporation, in this case, the groups Win Totana-IU, PSOE, PP and Now Totana;

as well as representatives of the Pupaclown and Padisito Association, which were recognized by the Day Centers with the delivery of some details made by the users in the Ceramics Workshop.

The institutional act has allowed the participation of the users of the Totana Day Centers, who have read suggestions, proposals, concerns and reflections on the reality of the disability with which they live in their daily work and in today's society.

In addition, commemorative videos have been projected, one of them made in the Day Centers and entitled "Down Poppins" starring the users themselves;

and that have served to give visibility to this reality, and with those who have requested more resources and support to publicize their personal and social needs.

The day has ended with the celebration of Adapted Games, in the Balsa Vieja square, in which students from La Milagrosa College and the TEAS Higher Cycle of the Miguel Hernández de Alhama Institute in Murcia have also participated.

They also thanked the collaboration of the students of CEIP Tierno Galván and the Open Classroom of the CEIP Luis Pérez Rueda, as well as the two HEIs of Totana who are going to work on the edition and recording of disability short films in order to approach this social reality.

The act has ended with recognition of the entities and municipal groups for their institutional involvement in this cause.
