Tomorrow concludes the contest of the citizen environmental awareness campaign on waste recycling "Think with the lungs" (02/12/2019)

The Department of Environment ends tomorrow the contest of the citizen environmental awareness campaign on waste recycling "Think with the lungs", whose prize consists of a one-night stay for two people in a spa in the Region of Murcia, on a regime full board.

Since last November 18 and until tomorrow, December 3, the active part of the contest is being developed, in which the Mobile Green Point (set formed by the PIM mobile information point and 4 containers for selective collection of light and paper containers cardboard) travel through different urban areas.

During these weeks, the Mobile Green Point has traveled different locations in the urban area, in this case, the Plaza Juan de la Cierva, in front of Glorieta;

Cañada Zamora, intersection with Rosa and San Ramón streets;

Rambla de La Santa, in front of the Municipal Park;

Tender Garden Galván;

San Francisco de Asís street, next Fairground;

and Constitution Square, ending tomorrow Tuesday.

As in previous editions, the general objective of this initiative was to promote information actions in the social media and environmental awareness aimed at involving the population in the recycling culture.

This was intended to raise awareness among the general public about the importance of separation at source of light and paper-cardboard containers for later deposit in the corresponding container for treatment and recycling, with the ultimate goal of quantitatively and qualitatively improving the results obtained.

The performance of the actions of this campaign is part of the framework collaboration agreement between the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, through the current Ministry of Employment, Universities, Business and Environment and Ecoembalajes España, SA (Ecoembes).

The specific objectives are to show in a tangible way the benefits of recycling waste that is deposited in the yellow container (cans, plastic containers and briks) both in the protection of air quality and in the care of the environment.

In addition, we want to achieve an increase in the recycling rate of waste, especially of light packaging and paperboard;

and encourage the separation of waste at source, from the homes themselves.

Similarly, it advocates reducing the percentage of "improper" from blue and yellow containers;

transmitting to the citizens the importance that their paper has in the recycling of light containers and paper-cardboard with the consequent care of the environment.

The media campaign will officially conclude on December 12 a day in which the public award ceremony will be held, and will consist in the development of the 7th edition of the "Recycle and Win" contest.

A prize will also be awarded to citizens in reward of the effort that their homes make by separating their waste and then taking it to a green point and depositing them in the corresponding container.

The dynamics of the Contest will be similar to that of last year, so that participants can take their plastic packaging waste, cans and briks or paper-cardboard waste to the Mobile Green Point during the days of development of the contest, from the 18th From November to December 3, at the established time from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., once there, they will deposit their waste in the corresponding blue or yellow container.

Thus, the environmental educator is informing and reviewing the correct use of the containers, while explaining the importance of selective collection for the conservation of the environment and clarifying possible doubts of citizens regarding recycling.

For each waste deposit of plastic containers, cans and briks or paper-cardboard in the Mobile Green Point, the environmental educator gives the citizen a participation card, which duly filled in with his full name and telephone number, will be introduced in an urn where all the cards of the participants who will qualify for the prize will be collected.

Once the term of the contest is over, the ballot box will remain sealed in the Department of Environment, until the day of the awards ceremony, which will be held publicly on Thursday, December 12, at 12:00 hours, in the room of full municipal.

This act may be attended by all those citizens who so wish, being present the technical staff and policy makers of the Department of Environment, Waste and Environmental Education.
