The mayor of Totana, Juan José Cánovas, has stated that the City Council respects, as it could not be otherwise, the procedure of the State Security Forces and Bodies and the strict application of the rules regarding the situation of the agent of the Local Police arrested for an alleged crime of possession and drug trafficking in this municipality, under the so-called Operation "Tariff."
Before the news released today in relation to this event, the first mayor of Totanero has announced that, once the agent's procedural situation is known and more information is available, the corresponding measures will be taken depending on what the legal services determine municipal and current legal regulations.
In this regard, he explained that logically they will purify the professional responsibilities that correspond to safeguard the image and institutional prestige of the City Council and the Local Police of Totana, as well as the general interest of citizens.
Juan José Cánovas recalled that the detained agent had been out of service for several years;
and has reiterated that the City Council expresses its rejection and condemnation of any type of crime, wherever it occurs and in whatever condition, since what really matters unfortunately is the fact itself.
Similarly, he has shown his invaluable disposition, on behalf of the municipal government and on behalf of the entire municipal corporation, to collaborate with transparency and agility in the face of the procedural situation of the detained agent in the fight against this social scourge.
In addition, he has congratulated the professionals of the Civil Guard of Totana for their commendable research work in safeguarding the safety of neighbors and visitors in the framework of this police operation against drug trafficking.
Likewise, it has requested that the principle of presumption of innocence and the work that has been done be respected, is being done and will be done by the Local Police of Totana expressing the full confidence of the Consistory in the people who comprise it;
and has lamented that the alleged criminal activity of this agent dirty the image of the rest of the agents of the Local Police and the municipal institution itself
