The plenary hall of the Totana City Council hosted last Friday a meeting of the Police Coordination Committee for the Protection of Victims of Domestic Violence and Gender in Totana, which was chaired by the mayor, Juan José Cánovas, and composed of representatives of the State Security Forces and Forces and municipal technicians in the matter.
This body carries out a detailed monitoring of said victims in the municipality, within the Protocol of Collaboration and Coordination between the State Security Forces and Corps and the Local Police.
In the municipality of Totana, gender violence issues have been working since 2006, when the Gender Violence Commission was created.
In October 2009, the Protocol of Action in cases of Gender Violence in the municipality of Totana was approved in the Municipal Plenary.
The Police Coordination Table was constituted in the Local Security Board held on November 13, 2013;
while in June 2017, it was agreed, at the municipal plenary session, the incorporation of the Local Police to the Comprehensive Monitoring System for cases of Gender Violence, which has materialized during the last weeks, having been carried out by members of the Local Police to monitor the victims assigned by the Ministry of the Interior.
