The mayor of Totana, Juan José Cánovas, the president of the Central Union of Irrigators Tajo-Segura, Lucas Jiménez, and the president of the Community of Irrigators of Totana, Felipe Andreo, will hang this Wednesday, July 3, at 12:30 , the banner of the 40th anniversary of the Tajo-Segura Transfer on the balcony of the Town Hall.
The City Council thus joins the network of municipalities that commemorates this infrastructure and that is being held throughout the year.
The first mayor Juan José Cánovas said that "in our town we go hand in hand with our Community of Irrigators, supporting them and being the voice of their claims", adding that the Tajo-Segura Transfer is "an unwaivable aqueduct, key for its benefits social and economic activities for the municipality and the Region ".
The mayor of Totana said that the adhesion to this initiative is carried out "because the transfer implies prosperity, a lot of work, life and wealth for our municipality";
and has invited all the municipal Corporation and representatives of agrarian unions and professional organizations, social groups and neighborhoods to attend this symbolic act.
Finally, he announced that, during this new mandate, "I will continue working in the same line of defending this important infrastructure that is essential for Totana and for the Region of Murcia and that will always have our support for all actions that have to be done in defense of this work that remains essential for the development of the municipality ".
The Community of Irrigators of Totana already placed a few months ago a similar banner on the facade of its building, located on Balsa Street.
