A total of 13 women at risk of social vulnerability will benefit from the training and employment program "Walk between fabrics" (08/05/2019)

A total of 13 Totana women at risk of social vulnerability can benefit from the training and employment program called "Walk between fabrics", which aims to promote their personal development and progressive incorporation into the social and labor environment.

The mayor, Andrés García, and the president of the Abraham Project Association, Nuria García Clavijos, have signed the collaboration agreement between both entities in order to launch this social project in the municipality of Totana, which includes training and labor

In the ceremony held in the plenary hall of the totanero Consistory have also been present the Councilor for Social Welfare, Javier Baños, and the coordinator of the project, Felicidad Cano, who explained the objectives of this social and labor insertion initiative.

The beneficiaries of this project, which is funded by the Ministry of Family and Equal Opportunities, will be referred by the technicians of the Municipal Social Services Center of Totana, so that this association initiates contacts with companies in the sector to promote their possible incorporation to the labor market.

By virtue of this agreement, the totanero Consistory will provide an adequate space to provide training for the project "Walk between fabrics" and inform about companies located in Totana related to the sectors in which the association trains users, providing information to users of employment services and local social services;

as well as the derivation of the people that it considers opportune.

For its part, the Proyecto Abraham Association will carry out an occupational training course on sewing and repair of garments with a duration of 40 hours, aimed at these people and offer the participants work guidance and psychosocial care when necessary.

In addition, materials, tools, machinery and any other necessary resources will be made available for the development of the activity;

and it will be technically supported the insertion and necessary actions that facilitate and propitiate the acquisition of labor competencies in the people served.

Currently, with Totana, this association has been developing this initiative in a total of 41 municipalities of the 45 that make up the Region of Murcia, in all of them with great degree of acceptance and success at the time of incorporating its participants into the labor market , according to their promoters.

Both parties expressed their satisfaction for making this project a reality and their vocation to continue collaborating over time in order to help families at risk or social exclusion.

The Abraham Project Association has a total of 19 containers distributed throughout the urban area of ​​Totana destined for the collection of used clothes, footwear and toys;

so that during the year 2018 some 60,000 kilograms of clothing were collected and destined to the regional wardrobe to be distributed among the most disadvantaged people and families.

This entity is an intercultural non-profit association that has a clear commitment to society and the environment;

and it has been working with groups at risk or social exclusion in order to promote their social and labor insertion through initiatives that guarantee sustainability and environmental respect.

Likewise, it has, among its aims and objectives, to fight against unemployment, social exclusion and any circumstance that undermines the dignity of the person or triggers processes of marginalization, as well as promoting the reintegration or social inclusion of people in this situation.

The Abraham Project promotes a model of social and solidarity economy by working on the values ​​of tolerance, equality, interculturality, sustainability and social and environmental commitment.

To do this, they collect clothing, toys, footwear and used cooking oil, transforming them into resources with which to provide shelter, housing, training, employment, wardrobe, support and support;

conducting workshops, courses and other activities with the aim of improving the quality of life of these people in need.
