The mayor of Totana, Andrés García, attended today in Fitur, at the Turespaña Stand, together with the Minister of Tourism, Reyes Maroto, at the presentation of the results of the "Ecotourism Observatory and the III National Ecotourism Congress", where the project "Territorio Sierra Espuña" has participated in this initiative of the Ecotourism Club of Spain.

In addition, the mayor participated in the official presentations that took place during the day today at the stand of the Region of Murcia at the International Tourism Fair, which will promote destinations such as Mar Menor, Cartagena, Caravaca de la Cruz and the Northwest region, with the presence of the regional president, Fernando López, and numerous regional and local authorities.

The Region comes to Fitur as a destination of opportunities, even more so with the recent opening of the new international airport, which will contribute to increase tourism as the contribution of the sector to GDP reaches 12 percent.

The regional government is working to incorporate new connections, such as the line already achieved with Volotea and that will link the Region with Asturias.

The participation of tourism in the regional GDP was 11.4 percent in 2018, a year that surpassed the 5.7 million tourists in the Region, and that has been described by the president as the best tourist year of our history, as explained.

Until next Sunday, the stand of the Region in Fitur will offer virtual experiences in the space 'Momentos reservados', through simulators of kitesurfing, diving, whale watching, cyclotourism and balloon rides.

There will also be gastronomic demonstrations, such as the one that took place today in the hands of chefs like Pablo González Conejero.

Finally, the Ecotourism Association of Spain (Manager of the Ecotourism Club of Spain) has held at the headquarters of the Secretary of State for Tourism, the Ordinary and Extraordinary General Assembly, which has been attended by the President of the Commonwealth, the Mayor of Totana Andrés García, as Member of the Board of Directors of this association.
