The director of the archaeological site of La Motilla del Azuer, in Daimiel (Ciudad Real), tomorrow exposes his model of museum management and visits to the business fabric of Totana (18/01/2019)

The Department of Archaeological Sites of Totana has organized an exhibition conference in which the director of the archaeological site of La Motilla del Azuer, in Daimiel (Ciudad Real), in which will present tomorrow, Saturday, January 19, at 12:30 hours, in the plenary hall of the City Council, the model of museum management and visits to the business fabric of the Totanero municipality.

The Department invites archaeologists and lovers of this discipline, merchants, restaurateurs, artisans and professionals linked to the field of tourism promotion in the municipality to attend this event with which you want to publicize the management project that is being developed in the City Council of Daimiel since 2013, under a collaboration agreement with the Regional Government of Castilla La Mancha.

The agreement signed between both administrations allows the latter to manage the resource, maintaining the first ownership of the deposit, which has the maximum figure of patrimonial protection, when declared a Cultural Interest, by the government of Castilla-La Mancha, a instances of the Municipality of Daimiel;

and that could be extrapolated to the site of La Bastida in Totana, as explained by the councilor of Archaeological Sites, Juan José Cánovas.

La Motilla del Azuer, is the most representative site of the Bronze Age in La Mancha.

The Municipality of Daimiel, aware of the magnitude and greatness of this cultural and historical legacy, decided to put it in value, marking as its main objective, to share one of the main archaeological gems of the Iberian Peninsula with the rest of the world.

This is the most representative site of the Bronze Age in La Mancha (2200-1300 BC), within a typology of settlement unique in Prehistory, the motillas: these are named because they form an artificial elevation within a surrounding space eminently flat.

They are also considered exceptional monuments because of their scientific wealth and their scarcity in number.

It is located in the fertile plain of the homonymous river, controlling and exploiting a territory that allowed access to basic productive resources, such as potentially optimal lands from the agricultural point of view, water supply captured from the water table, or the control of natural routes, vital for the exchanges referred to prehistoric groups.

In this line, and aware of the importance and relationship with water in the municipal area, there is the possibility of opening its doors and take advantage of the proximity to the National Park of Las Tablas, to encourage tourism in the city of Daimiel;

and allowing you to host hundreds of visits every year.

The project of tourist revitalization, which now leads the Motilla del Azuer, is offered as the favorable circumstance to relaunch the interest for the historical, cultural, social and environmental wealth offered by a city to discover, whose gastronomy and accommodations implement an offer in the services sector that has the guarantee of the SICTED seal (Integral System of Tourist Quality in Destination).

In the organization of the visits to the site, the Local Museum of Daimiel, is a key piece, being the origin and end of the same, in whose facilities a good part of the history of Daimiel, its heritage and illustrious personages is collected, as it wants The Department of Archaeological Sites set in the old building of the Technological Center of Crafts.

Daimiel has, as it is the case of the Town Hall of Totana with La Bastida, to share one of the main archaeological gems of the Iberian Peninsula and to position itself as a strategic point in the interior tourism, favored by its historical and natural heritage, its services and its playful, cultural and gastronomic offer, says the mayor, who reiterates his invitation to people and neighbors interested in this matter.
